RE: What Would Epicurus Say About Us Today?
My biggest problem with philosophers, of this era, is that all too often they sound arrogant, spouting theories as if they are facts (instead of just seeing them as farts of the mind) - and using them to tear at the fabric of our society... what little there is left of it.
As for souls, ask and you will learn that there are millions of doctors and scientists who still believe in souls. Assuming they do not is just as arrogant as my claiming they all do.
Very true.
We divorced science from our own well-being. Science and medicine searches for some truth beyond themselves. I love the Epicurean notion that this is wrong, that science and medicine should search for our well-being and happiness. (Maybe I am naive to believe this in our modern era.)
