In memory of Virginia Woolf
Virginia Woolf's quotes reveal a tormented soul that never seemed to know peace. They clearly express a great talent, but also a huge skepticism. This is not surprising if we take into account that she witnessed the horrors of the First and Second World Wars. These events deeply influenced the sensibility of the artists of the time.
Virginia Woolf was born in London (England) in 1882. She was one of the most important characters in modernism in the field of literature, and an uncompromising feminist. She lost her mother at the age of 13, and soon after, her sister and father. Some of her biographers suggest that she was sexually abused by her half-brothers.
"I do and I always undo. Different people bring out different words from me. "
-Virginia Woolf-
This great writer has nevertheless always maintained a constant literary production, these revelations in writing show his inner concern but also his impressive talent. This is a novelist to read and reread, yesterday and today.
"Love is an illusion, a story that we build in our mind, conscious at all times that it is not true, so that we take care not to destroy the illusion".
Despite having suffered successive nervous crises and traumatic experiences during adolescence, we can say that this writer was lucky in love. She married at the age of 30 and declared herself 25 years later, in her autobiography, still happy with her husband. It was not his only love. She formed other couples, controversial. She says on this subject: "Nothing is so strange as to be in love in the total indifference of others."
Be yourself
"Be sincere, and the result will surely be incredibly interesting." This is a very profound affirmation. She draws attention to the fact that the most unique thing everyone has is also the most surprising.
However, it was clear to her that the task of being authentic is by no means easy. This is what she says in the following sentence: "For beyond the difficulty of communicating with oneself is the supreme difficulty of being oneself". To establish this connection with ourselves, through communication, we must first really be ourselves, which is not easy.
This idea is reinforced in another sentence of Virginia Woolf, which says: "It is not necessary to hurry. There is no need to shine. You do not have to be someone other than yourself. " Authenticity therefore has a preponderant value for her. Indeed, it is his point of view of supreme value. But not only: it is also a titanic task.
This English writer has a clean place in the world of literature. Over time, in addition to conquering more and more readers, she has also become one of the most recognized voices in the feminist movement. His print persists and will certainly survive, like his work, for many centuries.
Great write-up about the quintessential philosopher, however, why did you change from female to male pronoun in the last sentence? I'm upvoting this though.
