EGOISTIC-ALTRUISM: THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF MAN.

Man is the most rational being in existence.
Man here generally refers to human beings both male and female.
Man is a social being that lives in a society with others.
In as much as man co-exist, he is naturally and intrinsically egoistic. Man is simply a self-seeking being. He is essentially selfish and is just full of self. Altruism is simply the selfless concern for the wellbeing of others.

No man is genuinely altruistic as compared to being egoistic. That people benefit from one is just a coincidence: it is a secondary and likely, an unintended aim and end.
Selfishness is the major determinant, initiator and “actualiser” of man’s actions and inactions. Man is only moved to act only if he stands to benefit...

To man, everything revolves around the self. Any second party comes in as a necessity- as an indispensable tool for the actualisation of value for himself e.g an entrepreneur employs people not to provide them a means of livelihood but to use them to actualise his ideas and produce the value for which he has invested. The employees only benefit in so far as they work for him. Their benefit however is consequently secondary.

No man is merely altruistic but essentially egoistic. A man is interested in your case only if it stands to benefit him. A rich man who liberally gives alms and help to the poor does so in as much as it benefits him (such derives joy and satisfaction for putting smiles on the faces of people)

There is however,every need for us to try to be altruistic and selfless by being considerate.

We must imbibe in us the virtue of LOVE to be able to do this.

Let us love and let love lead our ways always.
