What if they are all talking about the same God, only they do not realize it because they each call it by a different name?
Argument: There is an objective God and then there is the subjective experience of God. The objective God does not change but the subjective God does. So even though each individual explains God in a different way, they are in fact each discussing the same thing. ??
Thats a hard sell considering that many religions have multiple gods, like the Romans and Greeks.
Do the Romans and Greeks still believe in many Gods? You are referring to empires that have since fallen away. I believe Italy's predominant religion is Christianity now. I'm not religious so I do not actually know.
I think that monotheism is the general practice around the world though I am sure that some groups still believe in many gods - Hinduism I think?
Anyway, I was just trying to pose a question to see if it would lead to anything deeper.
