Life - The ever changing canvas of our minds
In life we have experiences that create a lasting impression on our minds, altering our perception and subsequently the way we interact with reality. The past experience(s) imprints an ever-changeable image on the canvas of our minds. The soul or the ‘I’ is viewing reality through the ever-evolving canvas, better described in this case as a lens, or a step better - a negative film slide. Light shines through one side, projecting an image upon the world seen by our eyes. Bridging between the oneness of I, the soul and the vast chaotic world outside of it.
So, when did we first become conscious? That is to say, when did we acquire the ability to be influenced by the external world in this way.
In the womb in a state of bliss and comfort.
Followed by…
Change.
The fetus eventually reaches its potential. Having successfully challenged the sizable boundaries of the inside of the womb. With no room for further growth, the blank canvas of pure bliss, naked, covered in blood kicking and screaming is exposed to the chaotic world. Forced into pushing beyond the physical and ‘literal’ boundaries, out of the safe nurturing mother and into the hard material world. Wrapped up and disguised in the form of a human being. Feeling yet unknown emotions, intensely and profoundly, fear.
(This is me, moments after being thrust into the world)
But. The baby isn’t defined by either love or fear. But now, he/she has experienced both
The first and all subsequent contact with mother after birth could be re imagined as an experience of love and union, the baby one step removed from the past world of the womb, exposed to chaos, now finds refuge at the breast. When the mother leaves for any given period, the infant will likely retaliate, expressing the emotions outwardly, emotions of fear and rejection.
We are beginning to see a pattern.
One of two things, love or fear.
The light and the darkness.
But you see, the darkness does not exist in the soul nor the world outside of it. As the souls shine light, the darkness is formed only by the negative image - The lasting impression of loss, the expression of fear. The projected image taints, scars and obstructs the totality of the view, in all of its awesomeness.
That is to say, the light cannot cast the shadow, only contrast can. The darkness of this introverted image manifested in the form signals and of feelings of fear. As we now understand it, our interpretation of reality is shaped and moulded by these previous experiences. We try to relate and understand the world, with only our past experiences at our disposal for reference.
What have I previously learnt, in both the positive and negative sense? How do these signals perceived as fear and love digest into our deeper being?
We, I or perhaps the soul, by way of imagination has the opportunity to project a whole spectrum of emotions and intentions back through the lens and into the realm of reality.
Often the search for the truth can lead to dark places. The lens distorting and creating a pitch black view. I myself once arrived inside the image of total darkness, alone in the woods. I now know you neither freeze nor run, but you wander, calmly, alone. If he/she is listening for their calling, is trying to follow his/her true will, a new journey will begin. Once again born out of the darkness, like the birth or the break of day. Ripping off and shredding former selves in stages described depicted and hidden throughout art history and all of the ages.
A game, of hide and seek, one player incorporates two sides. The hidden and the seeker, together - creating the conditions for life, dualistic in its nature.
That is to say we have forgotten that we are an amalgamation of our conscious and subconscious minds.
