You said it all here.

Celebrities have become our rolemodels and their many failings in these positions get overlooked as they are not the target at all, it is their bank account, their clothing, their fortune and the power it derives that we want. We do not care who they are at all, they are just a means to an end, a window through which to view possibility. They are coat hangers for our desires.

The world indeed is confusing.
