as it was one of the settings of blood+ —a vampire anime.
they featured the trans siberian railway!
not to mention i follow a russian cosplayer

Oh yes, I've definitely heard of it! It stands out on the world map for it's size and shape, and I've seen some impressive photos from there, like these, of the ice formations! Would love to visit some day. Thank you for sharing your experience!
