Golden Paradise in the City
When you think of Bangkok you probably think of gridlock traffic - motorbikes, cars, tuk-tuks and buses. Huge buildings dominate the skyline of the city centre and the pollution often causes hazy views. But just a short journey from the city centre is Nong Bon, one of my favourite places to escape the troubles and woes of hyper speed city life.
Nong Bon is actually a site to help relieve flood waters, so when the monsoon rain starts to cause flooding in other areas the sluice gates are opened and the water can flow into this site. The excess water is put to good use though, as you can become a member of the site for 40 Baht($1.33) then have free use of sail boats, kayaks and rowing boats.
This relaxing escape is also a favourite with runners, cyclists and dog walkers, as it has a 4km track running around the outside of the lake.
This shot was taken during goldenhour, a time which feels the most peaceful, almost as if time has frozen and that is how I feel as I gaze out over the shimmering lake. When you grow up in the countryside it isn't until you have left that you truly realise how lucky you are to have lived in such a place. Living in the city takes it's tolls on your body, mind and soul. This escape always provides a revitalising feeling towards my soul. How do you escape the rat race????
Beautiful picture. I am from BKK and you are right, there are many peaceful beautiful places within reach. Nice to see another member in Thailand. Followed!
My all time favourite is Bang Krachao - The Green Lungs of Bangkok, I love going cycling over there!
Nice shoot. How peaceful this place is. How far from Bangkok to Nong Bon?
Nong Bon is still in Bangkok on the outskirts, it is about a 20-30 minute drive from the centre.
Gorgeous photo mate I love the lighting of this shot, definitely looks like golden hour. So calm compared to a bustling city. Was this early morning or late at night?
Cheers mate, this was in the evening I don't usually get over to this spot early enough in the morning for sunrise!

Very gorgeous ! But maybe you don't know that normally Tag thai is only for people who write in Thai or Thai & Eng. If you write only in Eng, please use the Tag thailand. Thank you :-)
You make it look so beautiful
