Evangelia Ship wreck

in #photography8 years ago

This is the MV E Evangelia, she was built by Harland and Wolff's Belfast yard in 1942. This is the same yard that had built the Titanic.
The Evangelia had 4 names in her short history,Empire Strength, Saxon Star in 1946, Redbrook in 1961 and E Evangelia in 1965.

On 15 October 1968 E Evangelia was sailing from Rijeka in Yugoslavia to Constanța in Romania when she ran aground in the Black Sea off the coast at Costinești, in Romania.

The ship has been there ever since, and is a popular tourist site today.

I vised this place 2 years ago, cant wait to go there again.

did you swim to the ship and climb it? It's dangerous but if you like adrenaline, worth it!

No i didn't I was afraid :D but one of my friends did.
did you? @bernardino

yes, you need rubber shoes and very careful of the rust!

I will try it next time, thnx :-)

Interesting story and beautiful pictures .

Long time since I haven't been to Costinesti. I've heard that the beach is not that wide anymore.

I was there a long time ago also, it was very beautiful, not sure about the beach today.

ship is looking almost more than two football grounds :P . nice photography bro. build in 1968 still it is looking fine .

the ship is slowly deteriorating over time.

Wow..... really its a historical ship. I like this. Thank you for sharing

I was also surprised to find out it was built by the same shipyard as the Titanic in Belfast! Thank you for reading the post.
