Amazing Island in the Finnish Archipelago

Last week I visited my childhood friends, who work and live on a small island in the Finnish Archipelago. It takes a while to get there from where I live. First you drive for approximately 1 hour and 30 min by car, then you catch a ferry that takes 10-15 min, then another 25 min by car, lastly you go with a hovercraft (when the ice is gone, you can take a boat), the ride lasts approximately 10-15 min (depending on the route). The whole trip takes around 2 hours 30 min - 3 hours. It's not far away as the crow flies, but by car you have to drive around everything to get there. Then when the ice has melted and you have access to an own boat, you will save a lot of time.

The island is called Brännskär and my friends run their own company there. They have an amazing guest harbor with friendly customer service. I recommend visiting this island whenever you have a chance to do it. The island itself is lovely, very idyllic with pure nature beauty and has truly many things to offer!

I myself visit Brännskär now and then when I have time. I always take my camera with me because you can shoot very beautiful pictures of the nature there. Usually, I go for a walk around the island to find neat places to photograph. It's always nice to visit the island both during Summertime and Wintertime, the difference is incredible! :)

I took many pictures because there is so much to photograph. Here are the ones that I chose to share with you guys. Enjoy! :)

You might wonder what this blood red thing is. It almost looks like something brutal has happened here. But that's not the case. I read in the news today that it's bladder wrack underneath the ice that releases that color. This tells us that the bladder wrack has increased in the sea, which is a good sign and this means that the sea is healthier and the ecosystem is working better.

Is that blood on Ice !😕😕

Nope, it surely looks like it, but I explained in the text what it is!

Adorable landscape, very peaceful and - again - isolated! :)) But I had to google what the bladder wrack is to figure out what was going there, it does look like a scene from a horror movie! :D Good to hear it actually is a sign of healthy environment ;)

Yes, this place you can call very isolated! :)..When I first saw the red mess, I had no clue what it was! I was relieved when I read that it was a good sign of healthy environment! Not so often you hear good things about the nature nowadays. Usually it's the opposite :(

Exactly, thats why I was really glad to read what you wrote ;) Any good news related to the health state of our planet counts!

Beautiful places in the north! Especially the two guys riding the ATV in style :D

Absolutely! Yeah, the guys on the ATV are awesome! ;)

looks pretty cold

seems that winter is extended there despite the summer solstice
I also saw it on eveuncovered's posts it's winter wonderland there

so you're on a frozen sea? looks so brrrrr....

Cold, but not extremely cold! We have signs of Spring already and I heard in the news that Spring is coming next week! :)
Yup, it's a tiny island surrounded by frozen sea! :)
