A Swedish Castle

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

One place I have always wanted to go back to since I was small is a castle in my hometown. It's located at the south part of Helgasjön, which is the biggest lake in the area. The castle or fortress rather, was used to defend against the Danish army. At that time the south part of Sweden was occupied by the Danish people and my hometown was close to the border, and was a last strong hold to keep them away from conquering more of Sweden.

It's a very beautiful location and you need to walk on a long bridge to get to the actual gates.

It was closed when I went there, but it will soon open up to visitors again when it gets warmer.

Still I could enjoy the view from outside. I can't wait to go back when spring really arrives, and to go inside and revisit some good old memories.

What a historical site.

Love that old rusty metal!

It was very nice indeed. That kind of natural rusty look

That is a really cool location and some great photos! One thing I really dislike about most of North and South America is that our "recent" history really only goes back a few hundred years. Beyond that, we really only have archaeological sites so old that it barely looks like anything ever existed there. I wish we had more historical sites like these.

Resteemed!

I never really thought about this fact, but now that you mention it, I think it's important to treasure the past

Viking castle ....

Perfect photography sir❤
