April Snow -- 15 April 2018 (Original Photos)

in #photography7 years ago

An April snowstorm is not unheard of here in the central plain states of the United States, but it has been a while since the last April snowstorm.

The American Robins that arrived to the area were caught off gaurd by this spring time snow storm.

Photographs taken on 15 April 2018.

About One Inch of Snow

It started snowing in the afternoon of 14 April 2018 but didn't start accumulating on the ground until night fall when the temperature dropped.

On 15 April when I awoke there was about an inch of snow on the ground.

American Robins normally eat worms and bugs they find in the lawn. But what do they do when the lawn is covered by an inch of snow?

I saw this American Robin digging through the snow to the ground below.

It was kind of funny to watch because the Robin kept hitting the tail of the Mourning Dove while digging.

April Snow Storm

The week started out very spring like. Before the storm system moved into the area the high temperatures were in the 70 degree (F) range.

By Sunday morning the storm had laid down a good amount of snow across the upper central plains states.

Indian Magic Flowering Crabapple Tree

The American Robin gave up digging and moved to the Indian Magic Flowering Crabapple tree. The tree still has ripened fruit that provides nourishment to the American Robins at such times as this.

The American Robin feasted on the berries then flew away.

Nice shots @etcmike, Nature is always beautiful, I like these snowbirds :D

I was thinking about the Robin, the snow, and the berries. It seems like nature always provides. The berries are still on the tree this late into spring time. Normally, the berries would be gone and new blooms would be on the tree. Yet, none of the trees have bloomed. Nature is in perfect synchronization. Even with the preceding warm days of spring, the berries are still there just for an occasion like this, the snow, to feed the American Robins.

It reminds me of Philippians 4:19, God will supply all our needs.

Have a great week!
Steem on,
Mike

In fact, I think all nature is perfect, God makes it perfect, everything has its time. Unfortunately, we spoil the perfect creation around us. By the way, thanks for your support, you are so nice :D

I love nature and these birds increase the beauty of nature

posting is very remarkable friend @etcmike. This bird bungalow is very excited to dig like there is food inside it.

Great idea I try to post my "online content" only on Steemit now.

Having lived in NYC and more so growing (suffering) up in Binghamton, I don't miss April snowstorms. Actually forgot about the Robins. We don't have Robins here in Southern California. Thanks @etcmike

I lived in Southern California for a while. Yes, I did not miss winter while living in Southern California.

Have a great week!

Big storm, last gasp of Winter.

Great photography & American Robin is looking so cool ☺
