Building a Portfolio
"Oh you do photography, can you show me some of your work?"
"Yeah sure, hmmm, let me just..." Can't show them my Steemit blog cause the whole place is an ugly mess, can't show my Instagram because it's not coherent and showcases only very little of what I've done. I need to make a portfolio where I can showcase my different works in a beautiful and easy way.
The better part of last night I kept pulling together my favourite black and white images, from self portraits to other humans, street photos and random stuff. I don't wanna mess a good thing up with colour.
I'm thinking of creating a new Instagram profile that I would just use to showcase my works for people who just wanna take a quick glance, and then maybe one day my own website.
I put all the pictures into one album on my iPhone and started dragging them in order, felt like solving a Rubik's cube. It's not fully done yet but I think you get the point, I want a nice gradient from light to dark. Note that this is just screenshots from my phone and the album shows every picture as a square, even though none are.
I don't know what I would do when I want to add photos, because you can't change the order once it's out there. Maybe I would only update photos that go well with the gradient, ie. next photos should have to be light, and then gradually start going back to black again. It's a work in progress, but I'm pretty happy with it so far.
Good job, following your generally good taste. Especially with the gradient.
I am not a good example of organizing a portfolio myself and my Steem account is definitely not it, but in theory...
It's ok to have a few albums instead of trying to add more to one that is complete.
Removing some of the images in time will be a skill that has to be. As you want to leave only the best and what runs well along with it. For now, you've done it well by leaving color out of your gradient. Good job, once more!
You may have other albums for color, especially if you arrange them by color themes. You have a lot of nice golden hour/light works.
After a while, it will be good to have different series for different genres and topics.
Then again, being yourself is the most important thing so you could scratch all of the above ;)
How rude of you to write a comment longer than my post, you trying to make me look lazy!? 😩😅
For a website, I could do different categories, but for IG, it’s a different story. It needs to be one coherent feed and if I remove stuff from the bottom, it’ll mess up the whole grid.
Yeah, I agree about IG. I was a mess there.
Ah yeah there's that one of you leaning on the tree with the hat on. Always liked that one.
Some legit pictures there Eve. There's one of you in a bra on the bed or sofa...Your face sort of looks like, "hmm, I could go some rye toast and butter right now.," or maybe, "how many G&T's did I have last night?" Lol.
Sorry, I don't have any technical critique or portfolio advice because I'm a photographic-spazz! But have got a "yee haaa" for you, (don't know where that cam from), and a "legit." 😂
I’ll take legit and run with it! 😝
If I have to think of how many G&T’s I’ve had the previous night, I won’t look half as good as in that photo!
The legit was intended as a compliment, as always.
So yeah, I think you may be right although on the other hand, legitness is legitness and it tends not to go away in my experience...So, maybe you would still look legit?
Only many G&T's and a photo shoot will put that to the test! 🤣
That's a lot of goodies. Looks like a really good way to present your work!
Thank you very many!
Very cool B&W photos 👌🤗 I hope day is cool there.
Thank you! Another day of rain, but otherwise good.
