STENO DOLPHINS IN ATLANTIC

in #photography2 months ago

Unlike the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic does not offer many archipelago with seabeds conducive to the entire range of marine life. On the eastern part of the Atlantic only the archipelago of the Canaries and that of Cape Verde emerge in the warm waters of the Ocean. This does not facilitate the study of the species present. Cape Verde offers a maritime zone still little known, let’s say rather less studied than other areas. In these waters, however, many species are present and benefit from the particularly interesting underwater depths of Cape Verde. Indeed, of volcanic nature, the islands of Cape Verde offer impressive verticalities and leading very quickly to the deep sea. This creates strong currents, variations in temperature and conditions where a wide variety of underwater life finds its account. While sailing in a quite touristy way through the archipelago, but on very many occasions, I have happened to encounter many species of cetaceans including this one, the Steno dolphin
