DETROIT

The city of Detroit often gets a bad name. Of course there is higher than usual crime in the city, so perhaps its reputation is justified. I would suggest though, that whomever dare peel back the onion or crack open its book cover may find that Detroit is home to so much more.

These photos are all original and personally taken. They are meant to tease and begin to tell a different story of the once fallen from glory town. Detroit looks like a beautiful city. These were all shot across the international waterway known as the Detroit River. They are taken from Canada. They were shot with a Canon PS S2 IS.

Years ago I lived in Detroit while working internationally. I can attest to the fact that there is so much more to Detroit than simply crime. Check it out sometime. Don't just pass through...

But Detroit also has its dark sides. :/

Yes you are right. I feel bad for the city. It seems neglected in a way. There was corruption in the city administration when I was there. And I think that helped to allow for an environment of apathy. The police and firefighters were always struggling to keep up and the people's voices were rarely listened to.

Despite all that there's vibrancy and life bustling and the people genuinely want to see their city rise again. I really hope they get some good leadership and get on their way. There's some much potential there.

Who knows, maybe given the new turn in jobs growth in the USA, Detroit may hopefully get some of their lost manufacturing back.
