[ENG-SPN] A Matter of Costs / Cuestión de costes

We should also take a look back, when we talk about a key business concept today, such as cost reduction, which has skyrocketed, even more so in the current Digital Age, and pause to look at those fantastic heritage elements that make up our historic and artistic architecture, to realize that, in reality, there is nothing new under the sun.

A good example of this is found in two ambivalent types of architecture, which, in some ways, marked a grand milestone in our history and which, in many cases, still preserve the spiritual function for which they were conceived: Romanesque and Mudejar architecture.

While in Romanesque architecture, the raw material par excellence was stone, whose cost skyrocketed as it had to be extracted from the quarry, transported, and worked, in Mudejar architecture, on the other hand, by using the same material—clay, according to legend, that Rabbi Löew also used in the Prague ghetto to create a Golem—costs were drastically reduced, allowing many communities to have temples that suited their needs and possibilities, especially at a time when notable changes were already taking place in the geopolitical map of Spain.

Deberíamos echar también un vistazo atrás, cuando hoy hablamos de un concepto clave empresarial, como es el de la reducción de costes, disparado, aún mucho más en la presente Era Digital y detenernos a posar la mirada en esos fantásticos elementos patrimoniales que conforman nuestra arquitectura histórico-artística, para darnos cuenta de que, en realidad, no hay nada nuevo bajo el sol.

Un buen ejemplo de ello, lo tenemos en dos tipos ambivalentes de arquitectura, que, de alguna manera, marcaron un grandioso hito en nuestra Historia y que, en muchos casos, todavía continúan conservando la función espiritual para la que fueron concebidos: las arquitecturas románica y mudéjar.

Si en el románico la materia prima por excelencia era la piedra, cuyo coste se disparaba, pues había que extraerla de la cantera, transportarla y trabajarla, en la arquitectura mudéjar, por el contrario, al servirse de la misma materia, que, según la legendaria utilizó también el rabino Löew en el gueto de Praga para crear un Golem, la arcilla, los costes se reducían drásticamente, permitiendo que muchos pueblos tuvieran templos acordes a sus necesidades y posibilidades, sobre todo, en tiempos en los que ya se veían notables cambios en el mapa geopolítico de España.
