[ENG-SPN] Romanesque: the breath of passion / Románico: el aliento de la pasión

In its beginnings, well into the 12th century, it was one of the most notable sacred architectures, faithful to an art, the Romanesque, that was beginning to be established, with all the elegant skill of some itinerant brotherhoods of masons that were leaving traces of their passage. as the slow but inexorable advance of the Christian kingdoms pushed the Muslims towards their natural borders, located beyond the sea, beyond the so-called Pillars of Hercules. Main exponent, also, of that notable medieval town, named Atienza, which makes one look with dreaminess and respect at a community, that of Guadalajara, which, from the power of the miter of the powerful bishops of Sigüenza, has a lot to offer, in terms of heritage, historical and cultural heritage, the church of Santa María, located at the highest point of the place, next to that icon of temporal power, which is its rocky castle, currently serves , as a cemetery church, which keeps the dream of some just people, whose graves, at least in those times when symbolism enjoyed the intrinsic power of belief, always oriented towards the east, await that promised moment of resurrection.

It is also true that not even, in his case, the contempt of men has been more cruel than that perfidious alliance between time and erosion, which has censored the enlightened stone that was once a notable exponent of which, in monasteries such as the Navarrese one of Leire, is known as Porta Especiosa or Precious Door, in a hybrid doorway, which, unfortunately, hides more than what can be seen with the naked eye. And yet, in those remains that have been manipulated like plasticine by those metaphorical allies of oblivion, it is no less true that still, even without having a particularly keen eye, like those spectacular goshawks that glide elegantly over the skies of a countryside where the hare reigns among cistus and thyme, anyone who bothers to go up there, leaving behind that singular Via Crucis, which is its steep slope, will see, not without a certain commiserating nostalgia, the chronicle of a time, which, without better or worse than the current ones, shined, however, with the breath of passion.

En sus inicios, bien terciado el siglo XII, fue una de las más notables arquitecturas sacras, fiel a un Arte, el Románico, que comenzaba a establecerse, con toda la elegante destreza de unas itinerantes cofradías de albañiles que iban dejando huella de su paso a medida que el avance, lento pero inexorable, de los reinos cristianos iba empujando al musulmán hacia sus fronteras naturales, situadas allende el mar, más allá de las denominadas Columnas de Hércules. Principal exponente, además, de esa notable villa medieval, de nombre, Atienza, que hace que se mire con ensoñación y respeto a una comunidad, la de Guadalajara, que, desde el poder de la mitra de los poderosos obispos de Sigüenza, tiene mucho que ofrecer, en cuanto a herencia patrimonial, histórica y cultural se refiere, la iglesia de Santa María, situada en lo más alto del lugar, a la vera de ese icono del poder temporal, que es su rocoso castillo, sirve, en la actualidad, como iglesia cementerial, que guarda el sueño de unos justos, cuyas sepulturas, al menos en aquellos tiempos en los que el simbolismo gozaba del poder intrínseco de la creencia, siempre orientadas hacia el este, esperan ese prometido momento de la resurrección.

Cierto es, así mismo, que ni siquiera, en su caso, el desprecio de los hombres ha sido más cruel que esa pérfida alianza entre el tiempo y la erosión, que han censurado la ilustrada piedra de la que un día fuera una notable exponente de lo que, en monasterios como el navarro de Leire, se conoce como Porta Especiosa o Puerta Preciosa, en una portada híbrida, que, por desgracia, oculta más de lo que se puede apreciar a simple vista. Y sin embargo, en esos restos que han sido manipulados como plastilina por esos metafóricos aliados del olvido, no es menos cierto que todavía, aun sin tener un ojo especialmente avizor, como el de esos espectaculares azores que planean elegantemente sobre los cielos de una campiña donde reina la liebre entre jaras y tomillos, cualquiera que se moleste en subir allí, dejando atrás ese singular Vía Crucis, que es su pronunciada cuesta, verá, no sin cierta conmiserativa nostalgia, la crónica de un tiempo, que, sin mejor ni peor que los actuales, brillaba, no obstante, por el aliento de la pasión.
