SHELL REFLECTS AGE The size of a snail's shell reflects its age. They do not change the shells when they grow up. Instead, the shell grows with them. Calcium carbonate is the main component of snail shells. Most snails live from 2 to 5 years, but in captivity, some have passed the age of 10 or 15 years.
