The Children of Sinulog 2018 | Street Photography

Viva Pit Señor! A famous chant you have to keep in mind when you visit Cebu City during its annual Sinulog Festival that commences every 3rd Sunday of January. If you're wondering what Pit Señor means, it is actually from a Cebuano phrase "Sangpit sa Señor" which means Petition for the Señor Sto. Niño - A miraculous infant Jesus which the annual celebration is dedicated for.

I'm not gonna go into the whole story of Sinulog since Wikipedia already has all the details about it. :) So segueing into my story, me and my friends planned to join this year's Translacion - A solemn religious procession a day before the Sinulog Festival. I brought Minty with me (my Fujifilm X-A2 mirrorless camera) and was trying to think of a theme for this year's Sinulog photo album.

The Cebu City Mayor - Thomas Osmeña said in an interview, “The Sto. Niño is a child and we want to make Sinulog safe for children." He was trying to make Sinulog as peaceful as possible and wants a Child-Friendly festivity. Therefore, street parties, paint wars and the like are strictly prohibited to allow parents to bring their children safely to the streets to witness the grand street parade.

So to there! My thought bubble popped out and gave me an idea to do a street photography of Sinulog Children since this is what the festivity is all about.
