So Beautiful Rosa 'Peace Flower

Rosa 'Peace' – A Timeless Beauty of the Rose World
Rosa 'Peace' is one of the most renowned hybrid tea roses in the world, known not just for its stunning beauty but also for its deep historical significance. A symbol of resilience, hope, and elegance, this rose has captured the hearts of gardeners, florists, and rose enthusiasts worldwide for over half a century. Its story is intertwined with the events of World War II, making it not only a testament to horticultural excellence but also a reminder of the enduring quest for peace.
Origins and History
The story of the 'Peace' rose begins in the mid-1930s with French horticulturist Francis Meilland. Meilland, born into a family of rose breeders, was passionate about developing new varieties that embodied beauty, fragrance, and strength. After several years of crossbreeding, he finally created a rose that surpassed his wildest expectations. This new variety, initially known as '3-35-40' in its experimental stage, had an ethereal beauty: large blooms of creamy yellow petals edged with soft pink that unfurled majestically.
As war clouds loomed over Europe, Meilland feared for the future of his creation. With the advent of World War II, France became an increasingly dangerous place for both people and industry. In 1939, just before the German invasion, Meilland sent cuttings of his prized rose to friends and colleagues in other countries, including Italy, Germany, and the United States, in the hope that it would survive the conflict.
