Parrots, Ibis, Cranes and more!
Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama has a large number of surprisingly accessible birds. Most are kept in open areas where there is a low fence to prevent visitors from approaching too close, the lack of glass makes it a bit easier to get photos of the birds.
A number of Macaws were present. It's interesting at how expressive they seem, when birds can't really form facial expressions as we can.

As usual, CLICK on any picture to see a larger version!

Macaws use their very strong beak to crack open nuts and other hard fruits, they also have great memory and remember when and where food is available in the wild.

And with just the closing of an eye, an entirely new expression!

Another section of the bird area was in a building with entrances built something like an airlock. One set of doors on the outside and another inner set separated by a passageway of about 2 meters. On the door frames were also hung lengths of chain forming a curtain, easy for humans to push through but enough to prevent the birds from escaping.
Housed in this section were birds included the Toucan with its massive, though extremely light, bill and amazingly blue eyes!

Best hair would have to go to the Grey Crowned Crane:

Not only the crown on its head but the lovely pleated appearance of the neck and body feathers, wow!
There were a few Scarlet Ibis wading in the water as well!

This is how you scratch your neck if you don't have arms:

Outside again to the Emu pen, this portrait shows us very clearly that the dinosaurs are very much still here:

And indeed, these are the kinds of hair-like feathers that adorned many of the dinosaurs.
I very much hope that you enjoyed the colourful birds in this post!

Excellent work! You probably already know, but from an ornithologist's perspective, dinosaurs never went extinct :)
Thanks @dek, from any logical perspective dinosaurs never went extinct, just most of them. I had some tasty therapod for lunch today! ;)
Oh, no! Maybe we ate the dinosaurs?
It's their fault; they are just too tasty!
Had to resteem this one very good shots! What camera are you using?
For these shots, Cannon EOS Kiss X5, with a 55-200mm kit lens.
Thank you very much for the resteem! :)
really lovely exotic bird photographs! :)
Thank you very much @alexpmorris!
Nice shots. Since I have THOUSANDS of bird pictures, having had big macaws for over 15 years, I was interested in your sizing of images. I see you seem to use an absolute sizing of 588 pixels wide. I've been cropping and resizing a lot of images I intend to use. You got any other tips?
I think the size of 588 pixels is from Steemit resizing the images in this post, there are larger pictures on imgur if you click through. Those I resized with Lightroom before posting to be merciful to people's bandwidth those are set to 2400 maximum.
These shot's are beautiful! Never knew how beautiful Toucan's were.
I was really surprised at how blue its eyes were!
its beautiful! very nice photos I like it
Thank you very much @adrianmendoza!
