Red and beautiful. Part 2
The promised second part of the story. And it's talking about red fish. And if it is more accurate then about sockeye salmon.
For sockeye we traveled almost from the first day of stay on the island. But what about: bright red, with pronounced features, and in size it is larger than pink salmon. It would seem that what you need for shooting. But everything was not so simple. And if, in the case of pink salmon, we received from the first time, even if not magical, then quite good shots. But with the sockeye we had no luck.
The first place where we tried is the parts of the shore of Lake Sarannoe, where small streams fall into it. And in these places the fish accumulates. But only these streams have clay banks. As a result, even the smallest rain that goes here every day makes the water brown from clay. And all this is washed into the lake. Yes, and in good weather, if suddenly it continues for a day or two, one unsuccessful step is enough to completely take a picture on this site impossible.
It is also impossible to shoot in the lake itself. Firstly, the area is big - the other bank is lost in the fog. It's an ungrateful job to fish there. Plus waves. Well, the transparency due to clay banks is below average. When you walk along the shore in the water, you can stumble on the fish, but so do not see it.
Therefore, we began to go around other places where sockeye salmon is found. But on the fishing rivers, the situation was not much better. Despite the stony bottom, the water is almost matte from a large amount of suspended matter. And the current in such rivers is more than impressive, so that at least somehow keep on the rapids had to hang on themselves on two cargo belts. Total obtained a kilogram of 20 ...
So we immediately agreed, when I gave the opportunity to look at one more place in good weather. In bad weather, it is almost impossible to drive there. Especially since we did not find the boats for that day. As a result, we arrived at the place already described in the last part with cloudberries. There are small creeks with almost standing water in which spawns sockeye salmon.
True transparency of water here, too, was below average. Although from the surface it seemed that the water is good. But almost any movement in the water raises clouds of suspension. And no matter who moves - you or the fish. So I had to try a variety of options.
Then how lucky. Will the fish. How will behave? After all, some of them already almost do not see because of mutations. As a result, they stumble against each other and begin to beat and "knead" the water. After that, there is nothing to photograph in that place.
As a result, for a few days of shooting we got only a few photographs about sockeye salmon. All three photographers (I, Andrei Sidorov and Sergei Shanin). I would like of course something more marginal. But this is the best thing that can be done in our conditions. It's good that in the photos at least you can see the fish)
