40 Abandoned Places From All Over The World

Hello SteemIt Family!

Recently I've been seeing some posts and pictures on different type of platforms about the abandoned houses, structures, or areas etc. It is quite a coincidence that in a short period of time I started seeing them often. Well it got me interested, so I collected some of them that include also the ones that got my attention..

I would like to share them here as well, you might get surprised scrolling through, they are quite interesting!

1 - Quinta da Regaleira, Portugal

Quinta de Regaleira was built in the early 1900's, which refers to the last days of the Monarchy. According to legend, the 9 levels of the well symbolize the 9 Circles of Hell.

4 - Abandoned fishing village in China "surrounded" by nature

5 - Abandoned silk thread factory in Maryland

Still looks worthy tho :D

12 - An abandoned mill in Sorrento, Italy

13 - An Abandoned Wheel

14 - Argentiera, Italy

The name of this mining town comes from the word "argento" which means "silver". 1940's were the most active and efficient years of the silver mining, but it got closed for good in 1963.

15 - Bannerman Castle, Pollepel Island, New York

16 - Swamp in action

A whole thing getting swallowed by a swamp, more like a pathetic event.

17 - Battleship Island, Japan

18 - Cape Romano, USA

This one could be considered kind of a mistaken or an unfortunate move. Building these things upon a sandy loose ground turned out to be a disaster as it seems. It was built in 1980, and it is marching into the ocean day by day.

19 - Chicken Church in Indonesia

20 - Coco Palms Resort, Kauai, Hawaii

The hotel made it's reputation with the high contribution of Elvis Presley's Blue Hawaii. Unfortunately, was shuttered after Hurricane Iniki disaster in 1992.

29 - Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia

30 - Green Lake, Austria*

There was a symbol cause this is a different story than being only abandoned. Green Lake in Austria is a dry park in winter but a 10ft deep lake in the summer

32 - Lost City Shicheng Found Underwater in China

33 - Next to highest floor in hospital, Indiana

Sad but true..

Pripyat was a city that was founded in 1970 as for serving the Chernobyl Power Plant, and for the employees.. After the the first nuclear explosion of 20th century, in 1986, the city was evacuated rapidly, and ever since that day, the city is abandoned..

36 - Spreepark, Germany

37 - Stair in an abandoned lighthouse

38 - The remains of Ferdinand Marcos concrete giant bust, Mt Pugo, La Union province, Philippines

39 - Underwater Cathedral

40 - US Navy DC3 that ran out of gas and landed safely on the south coast of Iceland.
