The air in the afternoon felt heavy, thick with the scent of damp earth and coming rain, much like the sky in the paddy field. I was standing on the unseen side of those vibrant green fields, and a terrifying silence had fallen. The line of cars and trucks on the distant road was utterly still, their headlights pale, unblinking eyes watching the field. The trees, dark sentinels along the horizon, seemed to be holding their breath.

The true horror began with the movement—or rather, the lack of movement. I started to run across the muddy fields toward the road, desperate to escape the suffocating quiet, but with every step, the road seemed to recede. My legs pumped, but I was caught in a horrifying stasis, trapped in the blurred foreground of the image. The faster I ran, the further away the traffic jam seemed to be, as if the landscape itself were a cruel, stretching illusion.

Then, I looked back. The fields behind me weren't just fields; they were an endless, rippling expanse of green that stretched into the gloomy haze. There was no beginning and no end, just the cold, rushing, empty land and the silent, unmoving line of the road that I could never reach. The afternoon was the realization that I was utterly, motionlessly alone, trapped between the blurry void and the frozen world.
