The concrete is worn and quiet,
Bearing the weight of a thousand steps,
Where the morning air is a soft, cool riot
Of secrets that the greenwood keeps.

You walk away down the narrowing lane,
A shadow moving toward the light,
Past the cassava leaves and the gentle grain
Of a world that hasn't yet taken flight.

I remember when the sky was this pale,
A canvas of milk and unwritten things,
Before the wind told a different tale
And time grew its heavy, restless wings.

The distant tower stands like a ghost,
A marker of a home we used to know,
At the edge of the path we loved the most,
In the long, soft silence of years ago.
