Yanqiao, The End of a Line in Wuxi

in #photography8 years ago

Yanqiao is the end of the Wuxi's Line 1. There are points where the metro system is both underground and elevated.  This part of Wuxi ends in the northern Huishan District.  Basically, this is the last stop. This is the end of the line.

Even "medium sized" Chinese cities are huge, and while Huishan and Yanqiao may be the end of the line, there is still a lot to see. Only, sometimes, when you don't know what you are looking for, you face a lot of diversions.  I followed Baidu Maps looking for something called that included "Culture Park" as part of the Chinese name.

And I indeed found that cultural park.  It's a place dedicated to celebrating local Wu Chinese culture.

It was here, that I also found a monument to a post card President Clinton sent somebody in Wuxi.

Huishan and the Yanqiao end of the stop is home to more than this. In China, Wanda Plazas only show up in the most economically vibrant parts of a city. And this part of Wuxi has a Wanda.
