Alone at night in Freaky Bangkok Airport

Hi, Dear Steemian Friends

Today, I want to share an experience that has happened to me a week ago. I was on my way back home to Chiang Mai from Siem Reap in Cambodia. My flight was scheduled at 10 pm and arrive in Bangkok Don Muang International Airport at 11 pm, then I have my next flight early morning at 5 am to Chiang Mai. Because of the time to walk the long corridors in Airport and immigration, taxi I felt I better stay the night in the airport instead of going out and taking a hotel for 4 hours. After the landing and parking of the plane, all the passengers were going through immigration and out of the Airport. For me, I wasn't going out and instead take the direction of transit CIQ. After walking with other passengers until they all turn to immigration booths, I kept walking alone in the corridors until the transit check and immigration. As I arrived in the big room there is the booth of the airline and a woman behind, and an immigration officer alone playing on his cell phone, I get my flight boarding already done in Cambodia so the lady just add the number of the gate, then I walk to the immigration officer and give him my passport. I ask him in Thai if he was not bored, then he laughs and tell me, yes he is, but he is used to it after I walked my way to the custom and security check, there was a custom woman behind the X-ray screen and a security woman taking care the metal detection. I take out my computer and also two small bottles of snake wine (with a cobra inside to send to two winners of @thaiteam contest) I already put the two small glass bottles in a zipper bag and put it on the tray. After the X-ray the customs woman pick the two bottles and ask me what is it, I explain to her it is snake wine. She told me usually she cannot let it enter because of the snakes inside the bottles but because I was nice and put it on the tray and not try to hide she say it is good for this time, maybe also the fact that I speak in Thai with her may help.

After the customs, I was on my way to the huge departure hall of Bangkok Don Muang International Airport. I walk the stairs up and arrive just in front of the Custom and security filters for the passengers. To my big surprise there was nobody, all the X-ray and metal detection gates were empty of passengers but also of Custom and security staff. Then I start to look around me and there is nobody in the entire Airport. For a moment I felt like I was the main character of one of these apocalyptic movies from Hollywood, as the last survivor of a zombie apocalypse. Strange feeling to be the only person in this giant International Airport. After walking around a little I find out there are a few staffs that are sleeping in unusual places, or maybe they all dead! I took a seat and after maybe 30 minutes I saw someone walking, then later I saw two strange shapes of people walking in the corridor with what looks like they wearing clothes for snow or cold weather, strange as we are in Thailand and the weather is really hot. Also, after a while, I find out that there is an old man seating in the dark of a closed shop, maybe he was a ghost! So I spend all the night in an empty giant airport and it was kind of fun. I take a few shots to share with you. Enjoy

That's really like the horror movie^^
So, the customs woman let you take the bottle of snakes wine, right?
You're so lucky!!

Yes, it really has the feel of a horror movie when you wake up and find out that something has gone wrong and you are the only survivor left around. The customs woman has been nice but I feel there is plenty of reason like I not hide it and put it on the tray to get checked and in a zipper bag because of liquid and glass, there is no other passenger so she must be in a better mood, I am polite and talk to her in Thai. Customs officer is just like us they like people to comply with the rules and not try to sneak in, be fair and they are fair :)

Snakes wine!! My gosh! Let’s see some photos!

Here it is, I bring it back as a gift for the @thaiteam contest winner. I remember posting about it before and getting some reaction even after in other posts.

Amazing! How did they put this cobra into this small bottle?! Poor snake!

Really no ideas about how they put it in the bottles, especially with open hood. I remember in Isan seen farmers doing it with "Takhap" but it seems easier than with a young cobra who is much more venomous than the bigger one.

Have you tried to sleep or nap???😳 DMK airport is already creepy enough even daytime 😂 I'd prefer to get a room for a little nap. You are so brave hahaa.

No, I did not sleep, the atmosphere was so special that I have to enjoy it. Also, DMK has a special place in my heart, it uses to be the gate into Thailand before and I have plenty of souvenirs there. But, yes it has a creepy feels in some parts :)

Just a outstanding photography I appreciate your post..
Thanks for sharing the post..
