Living on the sidelines.

While Cebu and Lapu Lapu are known as a tourist destination and a grown hub most don't see beyond their tinted windows or walled in communities.

This is what lies beyond those barriers. Home sweet home.

This home is situated on an empty lot. A wast space with a nice view of the former Hilton Towers now know as the new Moevenpick. The soil is hard. It's rock in fact so no chance of digging for a septic tank. There is no running water or any other kind and no electricity.

This settlement is a little further down the road and the ground is more forgiving here. There are about 300 people living here just behind a big white church wall. - Here there is water.

This settlement is situated pretty much in the heart of Mactan Island behind some subdivisions wall. There is soil and the people here are better of they grow their own food in the middle of the city. Sometimes they make enough to sell.

its so sad to see their situation:( I hope the gov't will give them livelihood so they can improve their living. Nice post. Upvoted @sayitloud

In Poland where I come from we have a saying - "Zaufajmy władzy będziemy nadzy" - It means if you will put your trust into government you will end up naked. It is the same case here. The government could not care less and even if they did, they have no means to change this reality. This reality is a direct result in a global economy that is based on profit and exploitation. I do share these images so people in the so called first world realize that their actions have consequences. Every time you make a purchase and chose based on prize alone never asking where your product came from and who suffered for it, you contribute to this reality. Because believe it or not these people do have a livelihood. It's just not enough to live nor to die on.

thank u,im enlightened😊😊

thank you for sharing the sad truth of the reality... I hope this will encourage more people to help the poor...

You are welcome. My hope is for a conscious approach to living and consumerism. With regards to the suffering of the "other half" .
