Feathers, Feathers, Everywhere - Hope Floats!
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
~ Emily Dickinson
I am fascinated with feathers, they are both delicate and strong, and they can still fly or float, long after their bird has left them.Emily Dickinson was right. Hope is the thing with feathers, that perches in the soul. Whenever I find feathers, I am reminded to Hope.
There is something amazing about catching a bit of sunlight through a feather at sunrise, or sunset, and I hope you will see what I mean. I am not a poet, nor am I a photographer, but I am a lover of beautiful things. Thanks, @allseeingewe for encouraging me to get out there and find the beauty - and post it!
Maybe @underwaterwoman @lynncoyle1 @goldendawne or @amariespeaks can write something something fabulous for these feather pics. Maybe @marillaanne can use one for a background in her digital art. They are free for Steemians to use or share, without attribution.
"He shall cover you with his feathers, and under His wings shall you trust" ~ Psalm 91:4
what beautiful pictures! I think you ARE a photographer @seaslim :)
I love your poetry choice too! Emily Dickinson is one of my all time favorites. I do have a poem I wrote which is inspired by this exact poem! Synchronicity strikes again!
Oh, I'm so glad you like them! I thought you might have a feather poem laying around. Get it...feathers laying around...lol...please post your poem, I'd love to read it. As for me being a photographer, well, if by by photographer you mean I take thousand of pictures, then yes, I guess I might be. LOL...I really only started taking pictures to overcome PTSD. It worked for me.
oohh art is so theraputic - it's awesome! I wrote poems to work through mental health issues too <3 my poem is not about feathers lol it's more about a bird being hope.. and rather melodramatic lol but I'll share it never the less. hope it's not too small to see.. this is from my IG. didn't wanna type it all lol plus it looks cooler with the picture LOL
That is really powerful, @amariespeaks. I love it, it's tremendously moving. I'm guessing you wrote that pre-Steemit?
Ya know, PTSD is just a normal reaction to abnormal events. I think at this point, most of the human race has some form of PTSD. That's why I love Steemit so much, the people here are really incredible, and I suspect this is how it is supposed to be in life. (With those few minor exceptions. lol)
yeah - people sometimes don't understand PTSD and stigmatize it but you're totally right 'normal reaction to abnormal events.' The people here really do help out ! I've never met so many kind people in real life LOL jk most people are kind in their own way I'm sure I just get to see it more bluntly on Steemit.
And thank you :) I wrote this maybe back in August.. just during a slumpy time in my mood cycle LOL but I liked it even after I started to feel good again so I kept it. I like the ending.. it's like no matter how bad it gets or how close to the end I feel like I am that hope to live more and go on will always appear to save me.
I loved the one with the sun shining through it, beautiful picture.
Oh @bashadow, thank you! I like that one, too! Feathers are just cool, it's hard to go wrong.
Isn't it symbolic that birds can fly to the sky using feathers? And in old days people used to write with a quill. It's almost the same thing. Some people can take us to the sky with writing obviously. Keep doing that @seaslim :)
Oooh! What a wonderful thought! From the looks of your blog, you do the same thing. I loved the Tesla post. Very interesting to think about. He's one of my personal icons.
lol no, It cant be compared. My blog is garbage, I'm just testing some things. Your blog is one of the best on the site. Humanitarian side of the blog makes him even better.
Thanks! I used to tell people that I am a philanthropist on a humanitarian budget. Hopefully, Steemit will change that for all of us!
Oh My Word! You're reminding me of North Texas skies and lakes and vast open space. Which lake were you hanging around? And yes to feathers, Emily Dickinson, and Yehovah's sheltering wings and floating hope!
I shall take the photos and torture them with delight :-D thank you for your generous offer
I'm so glad! Please do that! I go to Lake Hefner, well, it's been a couple of months...but it's a pretty decent lake, with lots of little hidden gems around it. And you are more than welcome!
Hey Chickadee, I saw you found my post. I'm sorry I didn't get here with a link over sooner.
I still have one to drop on you. Maybe two. Coming soon.
Are you still having bandwidth issues? Missing seeing new posts. Hope all is well with you.
I'm leaving a link here. https://steemit.com/@marillaanne/feathery-fun
Ohhhh Chickadee, wherefore art thou?
You make me feel so loved! I'm here! I've been working on a BIG project. I missed my Steemit friends, but I'm baaaack... :) I'll be posting about the website I just built, it's a really amazing project. It's http://www.whistleblowerheroes.org it has been really labor intensive, but so worth it.
Do it because it is good to do, not because of what you will get
Beautiful photos.
Thank you! You are right, it is just good to do. The thing about beauty is, the more you look for it, the more you will find. Actually that's true about most everything in life, don't you agree?

Thank you. Up voted and resteemed.
Wow, thank you, @scottlbibler - that is a pretty groovy pic you have in your profile, did you make that?
I wish I had the chance to stop by sooner! Gorgeous photographs Melissa. Is this where you got the inspiration for my beeyou logo? Which I am totally loving! I haven't seen you around and wanted to stop by and say hi.
If you are on and interested, our initiative is having a logo contest. Small prize but it's for a good cause and good way to get more exposure for your work. Stop by if interested. :)

Oh, you are so sweet! I've been working on a MASSIVE project, ( bills have to get paid) so I haven't had the chance to pop in. I'm just getting caught up now, but geez, miss a week, and boom! Maybe trying to "catch up isn't the best plan. lol
And YES! This is where I got the inspriation for your logo. I actually resized it for you, made it nice and small, but ran out of bandwidth before I could post it for you, last week. I will stop by the contest, thanks for the invite! I don't know how you do it, @beeyou - a full time job, a baby, AND Steemit? You are are marvel! Maybe you could slip me some time management secrets? ;)
As you can see Melissa, it can take me anywhere from 5 mins to 5 days to get a reply back. My advice, start from scratch. It would be too difficult to catch up. Steemit time moves so fast. Everyone is probably focused on the latest and greatest and probably forgot what was written yesterday! Unless they are the friends you've made on here; those would miss you and you should catch up with them.
Is the massive project the website you mentioned above? I peeked up. ;) It really is good! I'm very impressed. You and mudcat should've teamed up on the newbieresteemday site he built, but as you said, finding time is the problem. Bills definitely have to be paid!
No time management secrets sadly. I need to know that one too! To be honest, it is tiring. I'm still on because I like the people I've met with our group. I like that this platform has the potential to do good in the world and that people putting in the effort should be rewarded. It just gets harder and harder by the day though. We'll see how it goes. Maybe if it gets too stressful I will take a break from here like you did. I think there will be 3 or 4 people that would miss me. :)
I'm happy you got curied though! I don't want a big payout, but it would be nice if I could buy myself a cup of coffee one day with my payouts. A gal can dream.
I can't believe @newbieresteemday missed this one! I would have happily highlighted it if I had seen it.
