Eurasian Tree Sparrow So Beautiful

in #photography25 days ago

The Eurasian tree sparrow, scientifically known as Passer montanus, is a delightful little bird that often goes unnoticed despite its widespread presence. Belonging to the sparrow family, Passeridae, this species is closely related to the house sparrow but has distinct characteristics that set it apart.
Native to Eurasia, as its name suggests, the Eurasian tree sparrow is a small bird measuring around 12 to 14 centimeters in length and weighing about 24 to 30 grams. Its appearance is marked by warm brown plumage with darker streaks on its back and wings, while its underparts are lighter with a whitish hue. The male and female Eurasian tree sparrows share similar appearances, with the male typically having slightly brighter markings during the breeding season.
One of the distinguishing features of the Eurasian tree sparrow is its chestnut-colored crown, which contrasts with the black patch on its cheeks. This characteristic makes it easily recognizable, especially when observed perched on tree branches or rooftops. Unlike some other species of sparrows, the Eurasian tree sparrow is well adapted to urban environments and can often be found nesting in buildings and other man-made structures.
Despite its adaptability to human-altered landscapes, the Eurasian tree sparrow still retains some of its natural behaviors. It primarily feeds on seeds, grains, and insects, foraging both on the ground and in trees. During the breeding season, which typically occurs from April to August, pairs of Eurasian tree sparrows construct cup-shaped nests using grass, twigs, and feathers. These nests are often tucked away in crevices or cavities in buildings, providing protection for their offspring.
The Eurasian tree sparrow is known for its sociable nature, often forming large flocks outside of the breeding season. These flocks can consist of dozens or even hundreds of individuals, gathering together to feed, roost, and socialize. However, during the breeding season, pairs of Eurasian tree sparrows become more territorial, defending their nesting sites from intruders.
