Playing with Steel Wool!!!

On this time I bring you a shot that I made in a small abandoned water park near my town. It has been closed for many years so it is completely destroyed but luckily still retains this curious slide.

I´m not very fond of steel wool but the umbrella effect that it produced on this occasion seemed very interesting to me.

For those who do not know it, it is a scourer or metallic skein of fine steel threads that is mainly used for polishing floors, although it has many other uses such as sharpening scissors or removing paint marks. It is a material that burns easily, even when it is wet, so you need to be very careful with it.

In Night Photography and Light Painting, its use has been widely extended due to the exotic results and it is usually used with elements that cannot burn with it and that make it possible to spin incandescent, such as a chain or a carabiner.

Focus lenght -16mm
Aperture – f/2.8
Exposure - 14s
Sensibility – ISO100

En esta ocasión os traigo una imagen que realice en un pequeño parque acuático abandonado cerca de mi localidad. Lleva muchos años cerrado por lo que se encuentra completamente destrozado aunque por suerte aun conserva este curioso tobogán.

No soy muy amante de la lana de acero pero el efecto paraguas que me produjo en esta ocasión me pareció muy interesante.

Para los que no la conozcáis se trata de un estropajo o madeja metálica de hilos finos de acero que se utiliza para el pulido de suelos principalmente, aunque tiene otras muchas utilidades como afilar tijeras o eliminar marcas de pintura. Es un material que arde fácilmente, incluso cuando se encuentra mojada, por lo que es preciso tener mucha precaución con ella.

En Fotografía Nocturna y Pintura de Luz se ha extendido mucho su uso por lo exótico de sus resultados y por lo general se utiliza con elementos que no puedan arder con ella y que permitan hacer girar incandescente, como podrían ser una cadena o un mosquetón.

Los parámetros de cámara de esta imagen son los siguientes:

Focal - 16mm
Apertura – f/2.8
Exposición - 14s
Sensibilidad – ISO100
