Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is a Turkish politician who has served as the President of the Republic of Turkey since 2014. He is considered one of the most influential figures in modern Turkish politics.

Marital Status: Married to Emine Erdoğan, with four children

🔹Political Career:

Erdoğan began his political career in the Welfare Party (Refah Partisi) during the 1980s.

He was elected Mayor of Istanbul in 1994, gaining recognition for improvements in infrastructure and efforts to reduce pollution.

After the Welfare Party was banned, he co-founded the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in 2001, promoting a conservative democratic vision.

His party won the 2002 parliamentary elections, and he became Prime Minister of Turkey from 2003 to 2014.

In 2014, he was elected President, and was re-elected in 2018 and 2023, following constitutional changes that transformed Turkey’s system from parliamentary to presidential.

🔹Achievements and Policies:

In his early years, Erdoğan oversaw strong economic growth and attracted foreign investment.

He strengthened Turkey’s regional influence in the Middle East and the Muslim world.

Critics, however, have accused him of restricting press and political freedoms and centralizing power under the presidency, particularly after the 2017 constitutional amendments.

Erdoğan is known for his strong support for the Palestinian cause and his criticism of Western policies in the Middle East.

He aims to position Turkey as a key regional and global player, especially in the Middle East, the Caucasus, and Europe.
