Fiddlers Ferry Power Station, Warrington, Cheshire, England

in #photography4 years ago (edited)

Fiddlers Ferry is yet another coal powered/biomass power station in England that has now closed. The power station was commissioned in 1971 and as of 31st of March 2020 generation has ceased.

Its cooling towers will no doubt soon be demolished as have so many others. I strongly suspect that within my life time, the industrial urban landscape as we know it will be consigned to history books.

No more steam rising from these cooling towers since generation ceased recently.

A short while back in November 2019, I took a photograph of the station at night, not realising it would soon stop generating and the picture, showing steam rising from its chimneys, would become significant.
