Original Art Photography Series by @velimir #470 'A Road To Somewhere'
'A Road To Somewhere'
This one is very special to me. It appears as if there is a pathway to some other place. Notice the shapes are divided by linear perspective suggesting a passageway. We are quite unsure what we really see and what is a wall or where is a mirror if there is one. The only real clue to that would be the slanted line in the bottom-middle. If I cropped it out when taking the photo, the task of figuring out the perspectives would be impossible to solve.
In the middle we find a young boy, probably sitting on a motorbike, with a teddy bear riding behind him. You might not have figured it out at the first glance, and we cannot be 100% sure if it is so, but it is a valid explanation of what we see. Where is he riding to? To time buried in the past? To another world woven of dreams? We'll never know. But, we can surely enjoy imagining where does that road leads each of us.
The only hint of colour is in the middle of the frame. I've deliberately left everything in 'serious' weak colours as this one deserves such treatment.
Enjoy! :)

Mirrors reflect us, make us face our pasts, say some artists. Everything you see, when you look at a mirror, is yours. There is a certain tenderness in this image, perhaps not only because of the characteristics of the photo, but also because of the symbolism of seeing a child with his back! Perhaps we should more often take our inner child for a walk, turn our backs on some things. How much of us or you there will be in that mirror! Nice afternoon, @velimir.
Wow, @velimir, this is a complex and interesting picture. The lines tend to confuse reality. This image I can compare with Russian dolls because one image houses another and another until I see depth in the image where the child is facing the unknown to us. I like the abundance of whites and lights that illuminate the photo. You definitely have the power to make us think with the photos you share. A hug, @velimir.
Goes in his car without a fixed course just to find out what the destination, could be interpreted in that way that lives without worries in any way is a nice photograph :)
I was very attracted to this photo, @velimir. Personally, I like specular games, those reduplications, called in semiotics "mise en abîme" ("put in abyss"), which, as you know, is in the mechanism of the Chinese boxes, in the Russian dolls. Perhaps that is one reason why I am fascinated by the works of Magritte and Escher.
The photo plays precisely with that specular reproduction, which confuses us, makes us doubt between reality and its reflection. Seen with care, I observe the work (photograph with the child) in the work (the one that contains the picture with that photograph), but, in addition, as in "Las meninas" by Velásquez, there is the picture of your photograph where the two previous ones are framed. They contribute to that visual game that you emphasize, effectively, the tenuous homologous colors (beiges) and the thick dark lines - brown - (that of the frames); and that game is completed with the "imaginary reality" of photograph 1 (that of the child), where the environment is dark, giving it certain depth. It seems to me that the child, if my eyes do not deceive me, is in a kind of parking lot (a "non-place", as Marc Augé calls them), and that sense, the idea expressed in the title would gain strength. That darkness would act as a vanishing point, in an indeterminate space. That he is a child with his teddy bear on his shoulder liberates the interpretations, because he is a being open to the world and life to do.
Excellent photo! Thank you for sharing it. Greetings.
