Up-cycled robot?

I always thought it would be fun to make a robot out of recycled parts. Pieces of junk that were going to be thrown away, with a little imagination could be a head, a hand, a leg? I wonder if that is how this robot is made, i saw this guy being displayed in the window of the local mall and took a photo.
