Backyard Antics 3

in #photography6 years ago

I have been doing a Backyard Series on the animals that visit us. This has been going on for a very long time - 10 years plus! Over these years we've accumulated quite an animal family with some endearing stories.

This isn't your typical animal story. These animals actually come to my backdoor every day and have become quite trusting.

Lately, we've had a few interesting new visitors and a few that have set up their home in our backyard for many years. I'm not sure of all their names yet.

I hope you enjoy!

GREAT BLUE HERON

This guy has been visiting for quite some time but he now hangs out in my yard ;) hehe! It's always a special experience as his presence is quite powerful. HUGE bird! Unfortunately, we haven't made friends yet - he's still learning to trust. I got too close in his space and he flew away this session. He comes nearly every day and sits in our pine tree by the pond.

RED SHOULDER HAWK

We've name her Lady Hawk. She's been coming for a few years now and has quite a special story. On this occasion, she brought what looks to be a little 'hawkling'. We knew that she found a forever mate last year and we're kind of thinking this might be her baby (a little grown) because his feathers are quite a bit darker.

GREY SQUIRREL

The squirrels have called our backyard home for a very long time. All day long they are coming to the backdoor, peeking in the windows, napping and lounging around - just waiting for a little attention or afternoon snack. They don't particularly like the cold, but as you can see they will gladly weather the elements for a peanut ;)

The tiniest little yellow birdie!

I am not sure what kind of bird this is! Is it some kind of flycatcher or warbler. Anyone know?

Not sure what this bird is either. First year we've had yellow birds in our yard.
