Korzybski and Illusion; E Prime and the troublesome verb 'to be'
Well, Korzybski is probably most famous for his analysis of the structural linguistic problems we have when we use the verb 'to be' (the E-Prime fetish which keeps giving) but here is a rare video of his understanding of abstraction... as opposed to the tiresome sub-Matrix 'world is an illusion' which he rejects wholeheartedly.
and then Robert Anton Wilson chats a little about him too... this is more on the 'general semantics' angle; of linguistic relativity (itself spinning off Einstein work on spacetime) - but also delves into Reich, Perls and so on. He explains that - in very simple terms (perhaps an oversimplification - almost certainly) "The Map is not the territory" alongside other, more complex, uses of linguistics as a tool for social control.
