The pelvic floor is combination of the muscles, ligaments also the tissues which are present in the form of group and acted to work in supportive structure and these are present at the base of pelvis.

The main organ in which they form a bridge for holding the bladder, uterus and also rectum.

The role of muscles is very crucial as they control the urination, also the movement of the bowel, role in pelvic organ support and also posture stability and also in sexual functioning. Hence this floor ensured the proper functioning of all concerned organs.

Pelvic floor muscles

The pelvic floor muscles are as follows.

The fist muscle is levator ani it consists of wide muscle sheets and it has paired with further three types of muscles.
The levator ani is a broad sheet of muscle. It is composed of three separate paired muscles;

  • pubococcygeus

  • puborectalis

  • iliococcygeus.

  • The next muscle is coccygeus muscles it has main role if control and support the organ of the pelvic region.

  • The perineal muscle it's consist of a group of muscles and these are present in perineum that is specific area present in the anus and genitals, it's mainly functioning is making the the basis of the pelvic floor.

The pelvic floor muscles can be divided as follows.

The first pelvic floor muscle is hypertonic muscle tone which is appeared due to more muscle tone which becomes the reason of either pain, any strains and also makes it tougher for relaxing. This is particularly happened due to painful pelvic, pain associated with sexul intercose etc.

Another situation which is due lowering muscle tone becomes the cause of urinary leakage, other weakness and cystocele. It's due to accidental bowl leakage and other pelvic organ or cystocele etc.

While another category of pelvic floor is normotinic in this case muscle tone work quite normal and there is controlled regulations of either contractors and relaxation and resulting it's responsible for normal functioning of the pelvic.

There are following reasons of pelvic floor dysfunction which are described below.

  • The foremost cause is pregnancy and also the delivery process it leads to weaknesses of muscles and it might be happening due to any injuries.

  • As the time passed on and again continues it leads to muscle weakness with time and it's natural phenomenon of life.

  • As we got more body weights and it exerts more pressure on pelvic regions and it leads to weaknesses.

  • If someone suffered from the severe constipation it became the reason of the muscle weakness.

  • Certain surgical methods of prostate also become the cause of loosen the muscles.

  • Any specific injuries in pelvis region also affecting the muscles.

  • The poor sitting posture affects the pelvis floor muscles.

  • Few activities such as running and also jumping us cause of affecting the muscle strength.

Task 1 (2.5/2.5)You have shared a great knowledge about the pelvic floor, its muscles, anatomy, functions, and other causes of pelvic floor dysfunction. I am glad that you shared your great knowledge.
Task 2 (1.25/1.5)That's good, you diagnose your issue on time and taking treatment. Because after Cesarean it's normal to develop hypotonic bladder and you have to treat it as soon as possible to overcome the symptoms and prevention of further damage.
Task 3 (5/6)You chose the good exercises to improve your pelvic floor strength. Pelvic tilt, hip bridging and abduction are the best exercises to improve pelvic floor muscles strength. But you need to share the video of performing pelvic tilt otherwise you did well. I appreciate your efforts. Best of luck.
