Chosenia is a willow family plant. Chosenia arbutifolia is its only species. It is a pretty tree with a nice crown.

Chosenia has separate male and female trees. They can grow up to 37 meters tall. Their trunks are straight and up to 30 cm wide. Chosenia's crown is shaped like a pyramid or oval. Branches grow almost from the bottom. They can be pressed, upright, or spread out. Young trees have light bark with deep cracks. Older trunks have brownish-gray bark.

Chosenia grows in Japan, Korea, and northeast China. In Russia, it is common in Eastern Siberia and the Far East. It can be found from Chukotka to Sakhalin and Kamchatka. It also grows near Lake Baikal.

Chosenia thrives in polar and arctic areas. It grows on pebbles near mountain rivers. It likes light, well-drained soil. This tree needs lots of light and dislikes soggy soil. Chosenia grows quickly and can handle frost.
