Looking for Poetry
There is no purpose
with these words I write.
Rhythms and beats
just sounds of words
jammedtogether.
Like a child frustrated with shoelaces,
I merely stumble along
I can’t communicate,
Like a ship lost at sea,
With thundering clouds and raging waves,
I join my hands in prayer,
To only find no god I believe in,
I’m looking for poetry.
Heart-felt words lost
amidst traffic jams with blaring horns,
The cheap rhymes of my daily life,
Sullen moods and empty rooms,
An eternity of fleeting
thoughts that chalk the
sky of my despair,
Each phrase a post-it note-
a bullet point,
On a to do list scribbled with golden intentions,
By a hand that carries no weight.
I am a lamp without a light,
A who without a why,
A stranger passing by,
that stares into broken
homes wondering what could have been,
These thoughts are windows
that line the city sky,
Like stars-
shining light from what was,
Into this heart of what will be...
Longing, like a lighthouse overhead,
for that ship with the captain of my words
who as of now,
is still lost at sea,
I’m looking for poetry.
