The wind blows outside my door

in #poetry4 years ago

The wind blows outside my door
A gelid chill carried by the breeze
Something I have heard before
Northern winds echoes among the trees

As the day gives way to night
The light is strangled by the dark
The warmth my body aches I cannot find
A space by my side remains like an open scar

Like a dagger of infinity, it cuts deep
From this assault, pain is all I reap
It left a wound that refuses to heal
No respite is there. Coldness is all I feel

The wind blows outside my door
And inside my chambers a mighty typhoon
I slam open the door, I can´t bear it anymore
If you are out there, I must find you!

The chill turns into a raging storm
As bolts of lightning split the night
And the roar of thunder bellows above
The clouds like a battlefield in the sky

I am deafened by the howl
And I´m soaking in this downpour
Yet your whispers I can still hear
And your soft kisses feel on my cheeks

I stumble against the gale
Nature itself wishes us apart
Yet I shall persevere
I must try
I can´t give up
Until you... I find...

Just as I left you, all those years ago
There you are, with your radiant glow
A monument to your beauty
Untouched by time
As are you cheeks by my fingers
And your lips by mine

Cursed be the day and cursed be the gale
That sealed your fate and ended your days
Cursed be the wood and cursed be the planks
Who weren´t strong enough to keep you by my side

I´m being ripped apart my dear
You belong to me! Not to the sea!
You were to be my bride, not a nymph!
Why has this cruel fate befallen unto me!

I scream to the heavens, my voice lost in the breeze!
There is no answer to my prayers, to my pleas
The winds blow, as I shiver from the cold
Waiting for the day
I can´t hear it
Anymore
