MARYJANE
I do remember, I remember all too well,

when the noise began to swell

I tried to make you smile
with my own forced smile,

Then you smiled back,

Then I dashed out, yes I dashed out
To do what? I don't even remember
But the next time I carried you,
Your smile was but a flash back.
Starring down at your lifeless body, I realised
How absurd it was to think anywhere was safe,
That when I left you alone I was insane.

Now I cannot even cry,
The heat of the bomb blasts
have licked up my tears,
The noise of the cross-fires echo in my ears
Everything is now just the thick black smoke that has replaced the clouds.
There is no heaven, there couldn't be
If there was, this would not happen
There is no God, only guns
For where would God reside
when the men have no heart.
