Poem: Falling for the Wrong Person

When you passed by
I was too shocked to even say hi
Always looking at you from a distance
Knowing that with you I don't stand a chance

You were this god everyone worshipped
You were just someone beyond my reach
To you I never existed
Being around you always made me scared

With that your baritone voice that could kill
And the blue eyes that always made me still
That height that made people seem short
Your face so spotless without even a dot

Your fashion sense that made you stand out
Everyone stared at you no doubt
Your perfect body like that of Ryan Gosling
That your smile that made my heart keep running

The day you walked up to me I felt like flying
With every word you said I thought I was dreaming
The day you asked me out
Not being able to believe it I just had to shout

You don't have to guess
Because obviously I said yes
But to the whole world you were single
Even though you told me we were a couple

In public you acted like you never knew me
But every time you came back to plead with me
Telling me you wanted to keep it away from the press
I felt it wasn't worth the stress

Talking to me only when you needed money
Not thinking I gave it to you in a hurry
Never bothering to pay me back
You never stopped coming back

To you I could never say 'no'
You just knew I couldn't let you go
You took advantage of my benevolence
I acted like a person with no sense

Saying I'll be celibate till marriage
I didn't think it will create any damage
Because you said you were okay with it
Since you loved me you'll abide by it

I should have known you were a playboy
That to you I was just a toy
Finding out on the TV
That you were getting married to Didi

It finally dawned on me
That 'your girl', I could never be
I was like your toilet paper
So it was clear I didn't matter
