Carlieester From Barbados
Thanks @jamtaylor for the invite!
I'm a female writer from Barbados. I love to write about nature, personal emotions and pollution. I write very abstractly using beach creatures, trees and vines, flowers, the ocean and my country for imagery.
That's my art, which I hold very near and dear, and in many ways, am very private about. Professionally speaking though, it feels like the exact opposite. I am a commercial writer, my work has been published throughout the Caribbean in magazines, stuff like interviews of interesting people (including artists like Simple Plan, Sean Paul, Alison Hinds) and editorial spreads on fabulous, sprawling villas. Before you roll your eyes at my utter commercialisation, actually I bring a lot of creativity to my commercial work, and I think that's one of the ways I've managed to stand out. I'm also a broadcaster, I host a radio show on a Barbadian station called Y103.3 and I freelance for the BBC, doing local human interest stories.
@jamtaylor also deserves credit for the pic above!
I also work in music. It's one of my biggest loves, but I can't play a single instrument. That's ok though, my pen is mightier than the guitar! Well if I had a really big pen, I guess.
Other than that, I love to run and I love akitas. You can also follow me on insta at @carlieester.
