Breezy Thoughts

Today the wind is playful
And teasing:

Rippling
Black leaves,

Tumbling
In feather grass,

Rolling
In waves toward the horizon.

Who has seen it
Or knows where it begins?

Enigmatic
As our origins

And did you know—

They found breadcrumbs
In the ashes of a fourteen thousand year old fire

Long before agriculture…

How can this be?

It hurts the brain
To contemplate such mysteries.

Footprints in time,
Both dinosaurs and men

Out of place, for certain,
And beyond our ken;

But as we go on exploring
Through space and time

We’ll find other oddities
To stymie the mind;

Perhaps a tear’s circle
On a distant world

Will make us suspect
We’ve been there before.

But I wouldn't be
Overly concerned—

Instead of journeying,
We’ve simply returned.

Me llevo tu idea final!

I truly enjoyed reading this, John. Not only was it soothing to read out loud, but it gave me thoughts to ponder. Great work. :)

Thanks, Tina - Miss seeing your work on here :)

This poem blew my mind! I always appreciate your poetry! Thank you @johnjgeddes

Those weren't breadcrumbs, they were Twinkie crumbs.

prehistoric Twinkies - love it!

Interesting @johngeddesj to see how the two works you show, both the painting and the poem, merge into one, and encompass the fact that time erodes everything and that just like the waves of that immense sea, they unfold to the shore without knowing where they originate, so are we, in this world, going like waves guided by the wind, towards an uncertain destination, leaving traces in our wake with the certainty of knowing that we will return but with the uncertainty of not knowing where, nor when.

An excellent explication of the meaning, but why didn't you vote? Your comment doesn't really add value unless you vote and I can't reward you otherwise. Perhaps next time?

Sorry, that day I had a lot of connection problems and the machine was hanging, and in a hurry I didn't finish the operation. But don't worry, next time I'll tell you and vote. I'm already following you.

The image explains all. Really wonderful. Upvote for you.
