Rain is falling out there –

You are sleeping
While the trees
Slowly turn to glass.

Sometimes I feel
There is no difference
Awake or asleep –

The seasons turn
And the human passions
Are but a slight disturbance.

There is rain falling out there;

There will always be rain…
On the trees, on the houses,
Even on this window,

Long after we are gone.

Such a splendid snapshot of a beautifully observed truth; the immortality of wonders such as the rain truly aids in the realisation that the daily passing of life is an ongoing, never-ending timeline of events - even when we are asleep, life goes on without us. It simply seems to haste slowly, ensuring that everything is where it needs to be at all times.

Thank you for penning these interesting words and sharing!

I've noticed the seasons and rain (your climate) play a substantial role in your writing, helping to create the images. What if, for your next holiday, you go to a desert, could it widen your imagery?

I do the same, I often use jungles or the stony surroundings of Greece and Cyprus, because they are a part of the world I love, even if I cannot live in them.

Good question, Arthur...I think my imagery is less about my surroundings and more impressionistic, pertaining to the interior landscape of my heart :)
