My Daughters poetry

in #poetry7 years ago

Was so surprised today when my daughter (12) shared some poetry that she wrote with me. Wow :)
Poem #1:
Paintings:

Different colored paints
Color these pictures
That my mind has created.

Whispering secrets in every direction.
Thin fingers pointing which way to go.
Paper wings sprouting together at once.
One lovely painting, my mind has created.

Poem #2
Home:

Home
Is where you share stories at the dining table,
Home
Is where you laugh all day and night
Home
Is where you run around like a crazy maniac and no one minds
Home
Is where you can lean on someone’s shoulder
Home
Is where you can feel free
Home
Is where I’ll be
Forever with me
Home.

Poem #3:
Thunderstorms:

Once When We Were Little
We Shuddered At The Flash
Once When We Were Little
We Shrieked Upon The Crash
Once When We Were Little
We Held Onto Our Parents
Hoping For The Storm To End
But Now That We Are Older
We Look Up At The Light
Because Now That We Are Older
We Cry All Through The Fight
And Now That We Are Older
Our Life Is Like A Fight
Now That We Are Older
We Dance Under The Light
And Now That We Are Older
We Smile At The Night
And When We Hear The Crack
For When, We Hear Explosions,
We Know There’s Someone There For Us
Because Once When We Were Little
That’s The Person We Would Hug
While Shuddering In Tears,
And Bursting Out With Screams
That’s The Person That Would Never Leave Your Side
