Why I love spokenword....

About 17 years ago, I found a wonderful art form known as spokenword/slam poetry! I fell in love with the power and freedom that it gave me to tell my story and share my views on the world. Over the years, I have had the honor of performing at colleges and universities across the nation. I perform for high schools and middle schools while being a teacher, mother, wife, and survivor of MS. It has been an amazing ride. In 2017, I was honored as the Artist of Change for my city because of the work that I have done for women in my city through the 5th Woman. The 5th Woman is a show that I designed 5 years ago to tell the stories of women across the world using the arts. The reaction of the audience to the words and poems that have been shared over the years is why I love spokenword. Its powerful, and I am going to keep sharing pieces from the show and poems that I have written here on Steemit! I hope that it touches your lives the way that it has touched mine.
