REFLECTIONS
Dangling by the cliff side of poverty
I hear the echoes of success summon me
That lights up a warm smile in my heart
But that smile only lasts for a while
My eyes pop out of my skull
Watching poverty cut down
The tiny thread of hope I had left
Am a live but not living
The only difference between
Yesterday and today
Are the dates but the days are the same.
I work hard but my sweat is so full of failure
Jealous around my throat is hard to swallow
As I watch my best friend celebrate another victory
Perfect smile behind a mask
As I congratulate him
My tears neglect me
When I need them most
Every thing seemed so close
But yet so far away from being near
I let it slip through my fingers
My dreams are the only pocket change I have left
