Look me up

Look me up

Remember that time on the stairs, we were told to move along
The moments we danced under the stars listening to that song
I can picture what you wore although my memory is fading fast
Imagination might be flailing and closing gaps it has of the past

You never knew did you
You never stopped long to search
You looked down from above
From your golden perch

The chest tightened and the tears welled into a calm, deep pool
You smiled once and I followed your words, the inevitable fool
On hot earth I knelt while it opened wide to swallow me whole
The life that I lived happily gone and with it, my future you stole

You fell fast from grace
You couldn't keep on your feet
Your lies were fast paced
Too quick for you sweet

You may never have known me but you might come to find out
What was me is no longer true and what you wished came about
So many have passed through and so many smiles come and gone
And faded to black from the incredible brightness that once shone

I will wait no more
I will walk on my own road
I will make mistakes
And live my own code

I liked that line but enjoyed the whole thing. Amazing how our lives change when we don't expect it.

Love then ending lines, also enjoyed the entire writing, nice and vivid.

That title made me remember this video

I even though the title was the same and had to check youtube just to make sure, but the song is called Pick me up :P

A very good poem. Soul stirring.

Nice poem , you are good poem writer . Your all line is my heart taching . I am your poem fan .

Thanks for sharing @tarazkp

What a beautiful poem, @tarakzp. Talking about the past sometimes leads us to open drawers that were closed until now. The poetic voice speaks of two people who had the opportunity to meet, but who, because of circumstances, moved away. We see that in the last stanza, voice speaks to us of an acceptance, but also of a decision to follow its own course. The title that refers us to an order, a plea or a plea, but which is the invitation to another who is absent, is striking. . Happy night

Insisto! deberías publicar un libro de poesía! lo haces muy bien :)
